After weeks of rumors, Valve has finally revealed Counter Strike new. It's a major update to CS:GO that will put it on the Source 2 engine.

It also introduces responsive smoke grenades as well as sub-tick updates for servers. It's got a lot of gamers who are a bit naive but it looks like an enormous upgrade for the regular player.

Smokes

Counter Strike New has a huge update that will change the way smokes are used in the game. These changes, known as responsive smokes, will be an important game changer. Instead of a 64-tick update every millisecond, CS: Go will now be able to make use of sub-ticks (or as Valve calls them, "micro-ticks") to communicate with the server. The client will take note of each of these tiny increments and send them to the server. The server will then send the updated game state back to players. The servers will now know the exact moment that you shot your shot, jumped, peeked, and other inputs.

The video does not go over everything. However it does state that every piece of data sent by the client has a date and time and that the server collects all information in chronological order from all players before sending it back. According to the video, a CS: GO server will be able to send more than twice the data as a 64-tick servers.

This means that even if the game's tick speed goes up to 128 Hz, it'll be able to respond to your commands immediately and consistently. Micro-tick updates also decrease input lag, making sure that the server responds to your commands without glitches or delays.

Valve's technological improvements to the game are just beginning. The company is working on dynamic smoke and particle systems to improve how smoke interacts with the surrounding and is also updating all maps with high-resolution lighting, textures, and models. Maps
